Vish Chikitsa

Vish Chikitsa that has entered the body due to some reasons and its effects are removed and destroyed by it. Poisons are considered to be of three types, immovable, mobile and artificial. Immovable and mobile poisons are natural. But artificial poison is made, this poison is made by combining substances. There are two types of immovable poisons- (1) Vegetal, (2) Mineral. Vegetal poison is found in plants, tubers, roots, bark of plants, milk, gum, leaves, fruits and flowers. Mineral poison is found in the form of arsenic, orpiment, mercury etc. which comes out from digging in mines, land and mountains. Many hymns in Atharvaveda have proved effective in removing the effects of immovable and mobile poisons.

Many ways of removing the effects of poisons through medicines are also mentioned in Atharvaveda 5/23. Worms should not enter the body parts. The method of removing all types of worm-infestations by preventing them from coming in contact with food items is called 'artificial Vish Chikitsaor worm therapy'.
